"A Mare is a Foals First Trainer"

Our Mares have been painstakingly selected over the years.  We are quite proud of them.  Their bloodlines consist of Schonfeld E., Amethyst, Windfall Pg., All the Gold, Rainbow E., All the Options, Gideon, and various Holstiener and Irish Thoroughbred Mares.

Lilly

Breed: Thoroughbred
Born: 1992
Height: 16.1 Sex: Mare
Past Occupation: Hunter
Current Occupation: Broodmare

Lilly Bean is out of Fairy Tale and by Free Asa Eagle.  She is a striking grey Thoroughbred mare of 16.1 hands with an uphill build.  Following a show career in the hunter ring she was bred to Hennessey for a 2006 foal.  We were excited to see the product of her very feminine appearance and Hennessey's elegant presence.  "Jelly Bean" is truly wonderful and he exemplifies Hunter Breeding perfection.  Her refined head and large eyes compliment Hennessey's Larger than life expressions and stature.  Oh, did we say she will jump the moon!

More Than Meets The Eye

"Eyes"

Breed: Thoroughbred/Trakehner  Anglo-Trakehner
Born: 1998
Height: 16.3 Sex: Mare
Current Occupation: Broodmare

Bloodlines: The dam is "Moma". "Moma" was a lovely thoroughbred mare, that produced two prior offspring ("Black Tie Affair" and "Gizmo"), that have gone on to be very competitive in the hunter show ring in adult amateurs and children's hunter, respectively. "Moma's" offspring are known for their exceptionally good temperament. Both "Gizmo" and "Black Tier Affair" required minimum prep to enter the show ring....off the trailer and into the ring. Eye's sire is "Schonfield". "Schoneld" has been in the top two for five years running USEF sires of hunters. His offspring make exceptional hunters selling for high prices.
Description: Eyes is a stunning steel gray with spectacular hunter movement. Eyes was born with one eye not fully developed. It is a birth defect and is not congenital. She is an otherwise exceptional mare, so we decided to keep her as a broodmare. She is a very well balanced high quality mare. She is one of my favorite horse's on the farm. "Eyes" has given us three offpring..."Andante" and "Tortola", and "Snow White Chocolate".  They are both exceptional movers, but perhaps their best quality is their very laid back personalities. Both her first two youngsters are unflappable. "Andante" behaved like a complete veteran at her first show ever.

Domenglein

Breed: Trakehner OSB Branded ATA
Born: 1997
Height: 16.2 Sex: Mare
Past Occupation: Eventer, Fox Hunter, Hunter
Current Occupation: Broodmare

"Domma" is by the famed stallion Gideon, which was sired by Mahon 'E' and bred by Hubertus Poll and owned by Spring Knoll Farm.  With the FEI stallion Gideon as her sire Domenglein adds versitility to Broad Hill Run Farm's breeding program.  After having twins by Windfall 'Pg', which both survived she out did herself by producing a black filly with Hennessey.  Domarilyn just may be the 'model' mare we are looking for.  'Domma' is in foal to Hennessey for a 2008 foal, maybe a stallion prospect.

Spring's Iliad

Breed: Thoroughbred
Born: 1990
Height: 16.2 Sex: Mare
Past Occupation: Racehorse
Current Occupation: Broodmare

She has consistently been one of our best mares.  She never hesitates to pass on her level head and high intelligence to her offspring.  Her calming nature assists her foal in developing an easy going nature.  All of her foals have been countlessly praised for their train-ability and focus.  Combine all of this with a 16.2 hand frame and a wonderful shoulder, neck and movement.  She is the proven broodmare of exceptional horses.  Many trainers have started training her foals, have fell in love, and keep them for themselves.  Reserve her 2008 foal now, before we do!

Ginny

Breed: Thoroughbred/Trakehner  Anglo-Trakhner
Born: 1996
Height: 16.3 Sex: Mare

Bloodlines: Her sire is Schönfeld E (AHSA 2000 Hunter Sire of the Year) and her dam is Javalin Flight a TB mare! She is a full sister to "Scho me Blue" that Annette competed to high ribbons in the Adults and pre-greens in 1999-2000. Ginny was sold to Carousel Farm as a broodmare, when unlimited creep feeding as a 2 year old resulted in her developing Epithisitis. She has always been sound but has significant calcium deposits below her knees. The vet did not feel the damage could be reversed.
Description: Ginny is a dark bay mare. She is an exceptional mare. She is a lovely mover. She is a very classical. scopey jumper. She has had two foals. "Deleonardo" by "hennessey" (2002) is exceptional both n movement and jump. "Cocktail Talk" is also outstanding. Look for "Cocktail Talk" at the International Hunter Futurity in 2007.

Rainbow Sky

Breed: Rheinlander         Branded RhPSI
Born: 2002
Height: 16.2 Sex: Mare
Current Occupation: Hunter, Dressage, and Fox hunter

This mare is the striking daughter of the Warm-blood Stallion, Rainbow.  She is out of the Trakehner mare Krispenby "All The Options"
Besides qualifying for the German Federal Championships, Rainbow dominated the jumper Suitabilities and 4' - 4'3" Divisions in Germany.  Currently, he continues to add to his competitive credentials in the jumper and dressage rings. Always in the top ribbons, he consistently gets 9's for style and technique.
Rainbow is the only Pinto stallion to be honored as "Elite" BEFORE being imported to the United States.
Rainbow is the only Pinto stallion to be 100-day tested in his Homeland at Merigen Testing Station. Under the watchful eye of Burkhard Wahler, he scored a phenomenal 121.74 points, earning a KLASS I Licensing.
He is the only Pinto stallion in the world to be approved in Germany for EIGHT Breeding Verbands.
He is the only Pinto stallion in the United States today to have ever competed in the rigorous M levels in both Dressage/Materials and Jumping with huge successes and scores.
Krispen is by  All the Options, also RPSI approved. He was the SECOND-HIGHEST scoring stallion in the nation in 1999, receiving a coveted "9" in the true Stallion category, "Overall Impression and Development".
Rainbow Sky is very much like her sire, her movement is very light on the front with a strong, impulsive rear.  She is a mare of great presence.  She is very calm natured and not spooky at all.
Not only are we excited by her show career, we are also looking forward to the birth of her first foal by Hennessey.  The foal will be a line bred Consul descendant.  Wow!

Amethyst's owner comments.  Bijoux was a Hunter Breeding Champion as a two year old.  Her sire Amethyst was, also, known for his outstanding ability to sire great broodmares that excel in Hunter Breeding.  Her movement is large and very flat kneed.  Her jump is expressive, athletic and "the perfect hunter form".  Free jump video to be added soon.  She has just arrived at Broad Hill Run and we are so looking forward to her cross with Hennessey.

"Princess"

Breed: Rheinlander  RhPSI   Trakehner/Hanoverian/Thoroughbred

"Princess" is by Schonfeld E a legend in his own time. He has been ranked in the top 2 USAE Hunter Sires for the following years: 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.  She is out of Speedwell by "Werner-Wettstreit".  "Werner" was a national champion in the AHSA working hunters. He was then moved into a successful career in the grand prix jumpers with rider Debbie Stevens. "Werner" was an amazing jumper and would jump anything without hesitation.

Her siblings include "How about that", "Outspoken", "Matinée Scho", and "Ali"
"How About That" (1999) was very successful as a three year old at IHF and sold right after this competition. "Schoenrosa", also shown as "Outspoken" was a top contender in West Palm in 2004. "Matinée Scho" 2003 is a stunning bay gelding that we hope to compete at IHF in 2007.
"Ali" (2005) is a lovely filly.

Her mother's Show/Competition Record: Speedwell was shown between 1994 and 1996. She was shown in various schooling divisions her first year of showing. She was then moved into pre-green and adult amateurs. She won the year end "special hunters" the first year she was shown. Then she was consistently winning championships in the adult amateur division at local and rated shows.
Training notes: Speedwell is very broke. She jumps 3' courses with ease. She does lead changes on command and is very adjustable. She is easy to find a distance on.

"Princess" is on training for the IHF in September 2007.  Soon after that she will be breed to Hennessey and the foal will be bound for the IHF as well.

We are very proud of our few chosen mares.  A great amount of time and effort has been spent finding the right mares.  They have been chosen for their intelligence, demeanor, conformation and pedigree.  Each mare has her own special history and/or show career which adds to the diversity of our breeding program. Thus, allowing clients to select the appropriate foal for their individual goals and needs.
